Words That Attract (and Keep) Luxury Clients

Three simple swaps that create a five-star experience.

Luxury is built on details and the feelings you create.

One of the most powerful details? Your words. Swap a few everyday terms for language that feels thoughtful and elevated, and you’ll notice calmer discovery calls, clearer value, and warmer “yeses.”

Why bother changing a few words?

Luxury clients don’t want a hard sell.

They want clarity, collaboration, and an experience that feels considered from hello to handoff. These small shifts create exactly that—without changing your offer at all.

Swap #1: Avoid “Price” → Say “Investment”

Why it works: Price is transactional and begs you to justify it. Luxury brands don’t talk “prices” or “costs.” Your services are an investment—a thoughtful decision with long-term value.

Use it like this:

  • “The investment for my Signature Suite website copy is $8,000. I have one slot left for October—I can assist you in booking today.”

  • “The investment for my design services is $120,000, exclusive of furnishings and fixtures. I’m happy to confirm availability and reserve time to move forward.”

Swap #2: Avoid “Contract” → Say “Agreement,” “Paperwork,” or “Invitation to collaborate”

Why it works: Contract feels heavy and legal—cue hesitation. Agreement and collaboration invitation keep the tone friendly, clear, and forward-moving.

Use it like this:

  • “You’ll receive the collaboration invitation momentarily; once you’ve had a look, just send it back by email and I’ll handle the rest.”

  • “It was a pleasure meeting with you today. I’ll send the agreement this afternoon—please keep an eye on your inbox. If anything else comes to mind, I’m here.”

Swap #3: Avoid “Sell / Buy” → Say “Acquire,” “Obtain,” or “Commission”

Why it works: Sell is pushy and price-first; buy suggests a one-way, utilitarian transaction. Luxury is curated and collaborative. Words like acquire/obtain/commission signal discernment and fit.

Use it like this:

  • “Should you wish to acquire the Signature Suite—complete website copy, a messaging kit, and light launch support—the investment is $8,000. If that aligns, I’ll confirm availability and reserve your start date.”

  • “To acquire our Full-Service Design—from concept and space planning to procurement and white-glove installation—the professional fee begins at $80,000; furnishings and fixtures are additional. If that aligns, I’ll send the agreement today and reserve your preferred installation window.”

Copy-and-paste mini scripts

Use these to update your site, proposals, and discovery emails today.

  • Inquiry reply (24-hour response):
“Thank you for reaching out—thrilled to connect. Here’s what happens next: 1) brief fit call, 2) tailored proposal, 3) recommended start date. Book here: [link].”

  • Post-call recap (same day):
“Lovely speaking today. You shared: [goal]. I’ll deliver: [deliverables]. Next step: I’ll send the agreement this afternoon.”

  • Your process (one line):
    Understand & Plan → Write & Refine → Deliver & Launch

Quick checklist (pin this)

  • ☐ Use investment, not price

  • ☐ Use agreement/paperwork instead of contract

  • ☐ Guide clients to acquire/commission (not buy/sell)

  • ☐ Add a friendly recap after every call

  • ☐ Keep your 3-step process visible everywhere
